Ronaldinho might not be in the best shape of his life

Ronaldinho only just turned 30 in March. That’s an amazing fact when you consider that the former Best Player in the Universe has already become an increasingly distant memory for the Brazilian national team (only kept alive by presumptuous Nike ads) and, true or not, gets frequently described as “past it” without much debate. And now that he’s already set to miss the Emirates Cup preseason tournament with a thigh strain, more and more questions are being raised about his fitness.

From Reuters:

The Brazilian did not take part in full training last week when Milan returned after the close season and instead worked on his fitness in the gym.

Media said he had put on weight but Milan said he was in decent shape and denied reports their inconsistent talisman would leave the club soon a year before his contract ends.

Judging by the pictures of Ronaldinho above (taken on a Brazilian beach before he returned to Milan for preseason), it seems he just might have put on a bit of excess weight in the protruding gut area.

Dinho has long had a reputation for late-night partying and indulging in his carnal knowledge and Playstation benders but now that’s he’s on the wrong side of 30, it seems his less than rigid ways are quickly catching up to him. Then again, it is just a thigh strain.
